I was invited to blog Montreal’s Game Summit but the spike of consulting work I have right now does not allow me to this this treat. I guess it’s a good thing. Nonetheless, here’s a gaming linkfest, insightful links collected in the last few months…
- A great Slashdot comment by fhtiess about how gaming cafe can't be succesful for context read the main thread
- The Gamebryo game engine see also Ogre 3D (I did an evalation of that one last year)
- The Game Gardens community of gaem makers and players
- Kokoromi collective Game Art blog (met them briefly at Montreal’s barcamp)
- Greg Costikyanâ??s Gaming Manifesto
- What is High Definition (HD) game rendering? A clarification
- Entertainement Networking in Communications of the ACM
- WINE keeps getting better
- Underground gamer : download older games
- The myth of the 40 hour game
- Dismantling The Research Being Used Against Video Games (I wanted to post this after Montreal’s shooting but it was too sensitive a timing)
- Are You Keeping Up with the Commodore?
And a selection of game developer’s blogs : games from within, GameDevBlog, Indie Game Dev, John Carmack, Agile Game Development, Game/Life, IGN game developer’s blogs and Massively Multiplayer Game Development.
Feel free to give some suggestions in the comments, game developement is not my main area of expertise but it’s one I always find myself around, in captures several of my interests and my brother is a game developer so he keeps me up to date a bit (altought I am much more of a compulsive info freak than he is, he prefers the intricacies of game engine development and hacking OpenGL and C code).
