Web 2.0 Expo - Monday Keynote

By Tim O’Reilly. Notes and snippets, my comments in italics.

Web 2.0 Keynote

Tim starts by asking if this is a bubble? Crowd not sure… He compares where we are at “about visicalc” when compared with the PC era.

Always connected, persistent computing. It’s not over. It’s just starting. Inventing the future is what people here are doing. The future is not going to be like the past. Often with new eras, the first efforts are just a rehashing of the past… (the car was a horseless carriage).

Next up is Jeff Bezos… he presents Amazon Web Services (SQS, EC2, S3).

Quote of the moment “what is not going to change”? That a better strategy. Amazon Fulfilment warehousing. The programable warehouse.

Amazon eBook reader? Not going to talk about that. Tim asks a question about Alexaholic… no real answers here.
