A few technology trends in context - By Sylvain Carle - Chief Geek @ Praized Media

  • From broadcast to… narrowcast, selfcast, lifestream
  • Content gets atomized… chunks, snack, bits, atom
  • Platforms get distributed… cloud computing, software as service, web apps
  • Content needs context : semantic, meta, machine tags, qrcodes
  • Explosion of content means filters are needed : Some of the 5Ws. Who, Where, When
  • Distributed platforms and content require distributed identity… OpenID, OAuth
  • Data and content everywhere means… you need to easily move stuff around - data portability
  • The 3Ws of the new www also require a shift from Documents to Messaging
  • Mobile is *not* just another trend. This has the major 3W shift built in.
  • Aggregation is the balancing act to distribution and disintermediation.
  • Net Gain had this pretty much down to a science in… 1997. Hagel used to call them Virtual Communities, now it’s Social Media.
  • New Rights for new models. Creative Commons. GPL3, Apache 2, Affero License. Data is the Intel Inside.
  • New New models : open everything (hardware, science, knowledge, wealth? health?)
  • The Global Village & Trust your Tribes.

  • Thanks to Hugh McGuire for quasi-real-time typo and grammar filter!
